Keynote Speaker - James Bradley, Author of Flags of Our Fathers

James Bradley burst onto the national scene as an author in 2000 with his New York Times number 1 bestseller book Flags of Our Fathers. The Times called it "the surprise runaway nonfiction best seller of the season."

Flags of Our Fathers is about the six boys who raised the American flag on Iwo Jima and were documented in a photograph. The photograph is the most reproduced in photographic history and includes Bradley's father, John Bradley. Flags of Our Fathers was released as a motion picture in 2007, and was directed by Clint Eastwood. It is the companion film to the Academy Award-nominated Letters from Iwo Jima.

Bradley is also a professional motivational speaker who delivers his message, Doing the Impossible to audiences across the country. Bradley is President of the James Bradley Peace Foundation, which is dedicated to fostering understanding between America and Asia. The foundation sends American schoolchildren to High School in Japan and China where they live with a family.

Daniel M. Oppenheim, CFA is a vice president and research analyst in the Equity Research Department at Banc of America Securities LLC, where he covers Homebuilders and Building Products.

In 2007, Oppenheim ranked second on the "Institutional Investor All-American Research Team" for his coverage of Homebuilders and Building Products. In 2005 and 2006, Oppenheim was named as the top "Up-and-Comer" in his category.

Previously, he covered the Multifamily and Office segments of the Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) industry. Prior to joining the Company and as an associate in 2000, he was an assistant vice president at Wellington Management Company LLP, where he covered Real Estate and Commodity Cyclical industries for value/yield-oriented funds. Prior to that, he was a financial analyst covering the Paper and Forest Products industry at Goldman Sachs from 1996 to 1998.

Mark Chapin, Presenter of Residential Appraisals: Radical Changes and the 2008 Forecast

Mark Chapin, IFA is a veteran real property valuator and trend analyst. Chapin is currently a Senior Vice President working in business development at FIS Valuation Solutions, the nation's premier provider of residential collateral assessment and risk mitigation solutions. Located in San Diego, California, FIS Valuation Solutions is a division of Fidelity National Financial. Beginning his career in Richmond, Virginia in 1982 as a residential appraiser, Chapin moved into the national appraisal scene in 1988 serving three settlement service firms over the next fifteen years as Chief Appraisal Officer. During that time Chapin developed national scope valuation and property inspection solutions for some of the nation's larger bank's origination, warehouse, and construction / perm lines. Chapin also pioneered the managed valuation solution whereby independent appraisers serving a common corporate interest could produce uniform credible report products. Chapin serves The Appraisal Foundation as former chair of The Industry Advisory Council and current member of The Foundation's Board of Trustees. Mark's diversified background includes federal government and conventional lending positions, as well as independent specialty valuation experience in Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Off the job, Mark is an avid sports car and off road motorcycle enthusiast. He is also a volunteer participating in Habitat for Humanity, Christ over Richmond, and the FC America youth soccer league.

William "Ted" Anglyn, Presenter of Forecasting Future Events: The Appraisal Component of Commercial Lending

Ted Anglyn is President of Anglyn Property Advisors, LLC. Ted was formally a Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer in the Southeast Regional Office of New York Life Investment Management from January 2005 to March 2007. From 1990-2004, he was the Southeast Regional Appraiser for New York Life Investment Management. Ted has been involved in commercial real estate since 1982 as a property manager, appraiser and a lender. Simultaneously, for The Appraisal Institute he is frequently called upon to teach seminars that he has authored entitled Analyzing Operating Expenses, Analyzing Commercial Lease Clauses: Implications for Property Value and Marketability and Analyzing Distressed Real Estate for Appraisal Institute Chapters and other real estate groups throughout the country and Canada. His fourth book, Forecasting Revenue premiered at the Summer 2005 Appraisal Institute program in Seattle. Ted is active in the local Atlanta Area Appraisal Chapter having served as its president during 1999. On the national and regional level for The Appraisal Institute his service includes: 1997 Chair of the Young Advisory Council; 2000 National Board of Directors, and from 1999-current, the Region IX Finance Chair. In recognition of Ted's past efforts and contributions to the Leadership Development Advisory Council, The Appraisal Institute bestows an annual leadership award in his name.

In further service to the industry, Ted frequently serves as a guest speaker on appraisal and valuation related topics; presents educational/informational seminars on complex valuation issues; and has published numerous articles. His key publications include:

Tracy Fitzgerald, Co-Presenter of FDIC and Construction Lending: Compliance & Regulations
Examination Specialist, FDIC

Mr. Fitzgerald is an examination specialist for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). He is assigned to the Large Bank Section in Washington D.C., specializing in commercial real estate lending reviews of banking organizations with assets exceeding $20 billion. This role specifically includes ADC lending, CRE portfolio management, and risk rating reviews.

Along with his examination activities, he supports the FDIC's policy efforts, including contributing to the Interagency CRE Concentration Guidance. Much of his last three years, however, has been invested in working with various interagency groups on the development of the Basel II internal rating based and standardized approaches.

Julie Banfield, Co-Presenter of FDIC and Construction Lending: Compliance & Regulations
Deputy Director, FDIC

Julie Banfield became the Deputy Regional Director (Compliance) for the Dallas Region in September of 2006, and is responsible for overseeing the FDIC's compliance and Community Reinvestment activities in the region's eight states. She served as the FDIC's Acting Associate Director for Compliance Examination Support for two months in 2007, handling the most complex examination issues nationwide. From 2002 through 2006, Julie served as the Field Supervisor (Compliance) for the FDIC's Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee field offices. She also served temporarily as the Acting Field Supervisor (Risk Management) for those offices. Julie chaired the FDIC's National Field Supervisor Council from 2004 to 2005. From 1996 to 2002, she served as a review examiner in the FDIC's Dallas regional office. Prior to 1996, she was the senior compliance examiner in the Austin, Texas field office. Julie began her career with the FDIC as a safety and soundness examiner in 1989. She has a BBA from West Texas State University and graduated with honors from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado in 2004.

Catherine Allen, Presenter of Emerging Technologies and Data Security
Chairman and CEO of The Santa Fe Group

For more than 30 years, Catherine A. Allen has been an outstanding leader in technology strategy and financial services and a luminary in business innovation. Catherine has won accolades from industry, government, academia, business groups and the press for her success in fostering innovation, promoting new technologies, and bringing stakeholders together to address common challenges.

Catherine recently stepped down from her role as the founding CEO of financial services industry consortium BITS after a decade of service. During her tenure, Catherine worked closely with CEOs, CIOs and executives at the nation's largest financial institutions on critical risk management strategy issues. BITS' accomplishments under Catherine's leadership include creating best practices in more than 30 areas of financial services risk management, facilitating the industry's transition from paper to electronic payments, and creating a trusted forum in which corporate leaders could speak candidly about critical challenges in a noncompetitive environment.

Today, Catherine is chairman and CEO of The Santa Fe Group, a strategic consulting company based in Santa Fe, NM. Catherine established The Santa Fe Group in 1996, and soon afterward the company became a strategic partner to BITS. The Santa Fe Group specializes in briefings to C-level executives and boards of directors at financial institutions and other critical infrastructure companies.

Earlier in her career, Catherine served in several senior executive positions at Citicorp in the Retail, Bankcards, and Corporate Technology divisions. She represented Citibank as founding chair and president of the multi-industry Smart Card Forum. Prior to joining Citibank, Catherine served as director of corporate planning for Dun and Bradstreet, where she created and chaired the Electronic Yellow Pages Association. Catherine was also a consultant to CBS, Inc. on new technologies and international trade.

Catherine is a sought-after expert on a range of issues. She was named one of 16 "unsung heroes and rising stars" in the country by Fast Company magazine. She has appeared on CNN, ABC's Good Morning America, CBS's This Morning and Eye on America, MSNBC, NBC News and NBC's Dateline, and PBS's Nightly Business News. Catherine is quoted frequently in major national media outlets as well as in a range of industry publications. She is co-editor and author of two books on business innovation strategy.

Catherine sits on the boards of Giesecke & Devrient, Stewart Title Guaranty Company, NBS Technologies, Liquid Machines, LLC and Hudson Ventures. Catherine is chair of the Advisory Council for the National Foundation for Credit Counseling.

In May 2005 Catherine received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the University of Missouri, recognizing her professional achievements in financial services and technology. Catherine is a member of the Advisory Board of the Belizean Grove, an influential group of women CEOs across the US.

Catherine is active in her communities in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Washington, DC, as well as with her alma mater, the University of Missouri. She is a member of the Boards of the United Way of Santa Fe County, Appleseed New Mexico, the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Foundation, and the John L. Burke Foundation. She was appointed by Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico to serve on the state's Economic Development and Education Commissions and the Horizon Task Force. In Missouri, Catherine is a member of the University of Missouri Steering Committee and Griffiths Society, the Mark Twain Research Foundation, and the University's Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders.

Michele Edson is a risk professional with more than 28 years of banking and risk/fraud experience. She joins The Santa Fe Group as a Senior Vice President, leading the Financial Institution Shared Assessments Program.

Michele works closely with the financial services industry, technology providers and regulators to ensure the Shared Assessments Program fulfills its goal of creating efficiencies and cost savings in the service provider assessment process. Michele is also responsible for program governance, working group activities, marketing, and the overall strategy for the program.

Prior to joining The Santa Fe Group, Michele was a Senior Business Executive with Carreker Corporation. As part of the Risk Solutions Group, Michele managed client relationships and risk sales for tier 1 and 2 financial institutions.

Prior to Carreker, Michele was a Vice President and corporate officer with Primary Payments Systems, Inc. (PPS). Michele's responsibilities at PPS included managing the Customer Relations and Risk Management teams. While at PPS, Michele worked with the BITS membership and existing PPS contributors to build and advance the National Shared Accounts Database.

Michele's career history includes branch operations with Wells Fargo, Northern California S&L, Great Western (now Washington Mutual), and Household Credit Services (now HSBC), where she managed various key areas within Fraud Prevention and Information Security.

Jack Haynes, Presenter of Vision for the Future: Residential Construction Lending
EVP of National Builder Division, Countrywide Home Loans, Inc.

Jack L. Haynes was appointed Executive Vice President of Countrywide's National Builder Division in December 2001. His responsibilities include management of the business unit, which serves the financing needs of home builders and their customers across the nation.

Haynes is a very active member of the National Association of Home Builders, and played a key role in the creation and sponsorship of the organization's NAHB University of Housing, a premier repository of housing knowledge. A prolific author whose writing often focuses on sales and marketing strategies, Haynes is a frequent contributor to builder industry publications, including NBNOnline, Sales + Marketing Ideas, Builder and Professional Builder Magazines. He is also a much sought after speaker and has earned accolades for presentations at events such as the International Builders Show, Pacific Coast Builders Conference and the prestigious annual Presidential Seminar, formerly The Lee Evans Seminar.

Prior to joining Countrywide, Haynes was employed by Hearthstone Advisors where he was responsible for the investment of institutional capital in single-family home building in the western states. He has more than 25 years of mortgage industry experience and has held executive positions in the national builder business units of Weyerhauser Mortgage and GMAC Mortgage.

Haynes' academic accomplishments include degrees in economics, political science and law. Although he is proud of these accomplishments, he feels that much of what he knows comes from meeting face to face with homebuilders across the nation.

Mike McGuire, Presenter of Navigating the Commercial Real Estate Market
President and CEO, Affinity Bank

Mr. McGuire is President and Chief Executive Officer of Affinity Bank headquartered in Ventura, California. Affinity commenced operations in 1996 and has now grown to over $1 billion in assets. The bank serves the local communities in Ventura, Camarillo, Encino, Irvine, Pacific Palisades and San Francisco. Prior to joining Affinity Bank, Mr. McGuire was President and Chief Executive Officer of LaCumbre Savings Bank in Santa Barbara, California. He has held senior executive positions at several other financial institutions. Mike has been in the banking industry for 36 years with a focus on residential and income property mortgage lending. He is a Director of the California Bankers Association and he has held numerous other trade association positions including Director of the Western League of Savings Institutions, Chairman of the Colorado League of Savings Institutions and President of the California Association of Industrial Banks.

Mr. McGuire is nationally recognized for his work in the area of real estate mortgage finance with a special focus on affordable housing. He has previously served as Commissioner of the City of Santa Barbara Housing Authority, president of Transition House of Santa Barbara, and Chairman for Santa Barbara County's Affordable Housing Program. He has also served as President of the Board of Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation, Ventura County's largest affordable housing developer and President of the Board of Turning Point Foundation which provides housing and supportive services in Ventura County for persons living with mental illness.

Mr. McGuire is also a Director and Member of the Executive Committee of Social Compact. Most recently he spearheaded the initiative to raise $275,000 from California bank's to fund the Social Compact "Drill Down" initiative in the Oakland communities of West Oakland, Lower San Antonio and East Oakland. The resulting data from this study proves the underlying economic strength of these communities and will provide a catalyst to encourage new capital investment and retail development.

In his role as a Director of the CBA, Mr. McGuire served as past Chairman of the Federal Government Relations Council. He has represented the banking industry in Washington, D.C. for many years and has provided testimony before both the Senate and House Banking and Financial Services Committees. He maintains close relationships with the members of these committees and is actively engaged with them in policy development.

Orawin Velz, Presenter of Economic Forecast
Director of Economic Forecasting, Research and Economics, Mortgage Bankers Association

Orawin Velz is Director of Economic Forecasting in the Research and Economics group at the Mortgage Bankers Association. As a leader of MBA's research on residential mortgage lending issues, Velz provides economic and policy analysis of trends in the housing and mortgage markets and produces forecasts regarding those markets and their impact on the economy.

Velz produces a monthly forecast as well as daily and weekly economic commentary appearing on MBA's Web site, www.mortgagebankers.org/research, and in MBA NewsLink, an electronic publication providing a daily digest of industry news and trends to mortgage professionals. Velz also contributes to the research group's DataNotes series, which explores and analyzes a specific topic in the real estate finance industry, and contributes to MBA advocacy materials.

For five years prior to joining MBA, Velz was a senior economist in the Economics and Mortgage Market Analysis department at Fannie Mae, where she produced monthly forecasts for the Board of Director's use in business planning. Prior to that, she was with the National Association of Realtors for 10 years, most recently as a managing director in the research division. Velz received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Connecticut.

Anne Lanphar, Presenter of Title Companies Today: Commercial and Residential
Vice President and General Counsel, First American SMS

Anne Nelson Lanphar is Vice President and General Counsel for First American SMS, a subsidiary of the First American Corporation and also serves as Vice President and Settlement Services Senior Counsel for First American Title Insurance Company. Anne was previously an associate senior underwriter for the First American Title Insurance Company for ten years. Prior to joining First American in February of 1997, Anne was a partner with the prestigious Orange County law firm of Rutan & Tucker specializing in real estate and public law for 19 years.

Anne graduated in 1974 from California State University Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a dual major in accounting and finance. A 1977 graduate of University of California, Hastings College of the Law, she is admitted to practice law in both the California and federal courts and is a member of the California, Orange County and American Bar Associations.

Since joining First American in 1997, Anne has worked extensively with the California Association of REALTORS® with respect to their standard forms and continuing education programs which includes teaching over 100 classes to REALTORS and escrow associations regarding relevant topics such as Understanding the RPA and the Joint Escrow Instructions, Understanding Title Insurance, USA PATRIOT Act, Check 21, RESPA and Avoiding Litigation.

Anne resides in Orange County with her husband of 31 years and three sons all of whom are Eagle Scouts. She is active in numerous parish activities, the St. Thomas More Society, Boy Scouts of America, and the SOS Humanity Foundation, a Catholic charity to support the poor in Jamaica and other extremely poor countries. She also serves in the Catholic Detention ministry in Orange County juvenile hall conducting communion services as well as weekly bible study and sacramental preparation classes. Anne loves tennis and needlepoint.
